Cambria House was built in the latter part of the 1800's.
Native timbers were used to build the house including rimu,
kauri and heart matai. The slates that are still on the house
originally came from England.

Over the years many alterations and improvements have been made. In doing so effort has been made to stay in keeping with the original building.
Today Cambria is a beautifully restored homestead. The old fireplaces, panelling and original doors have been combined with modern luxuries such as ensuite bathrooms for all seven guest bedrooms, tasteful furnishings and top quality beds (with cotton linen, feather pillows, snug duvets and extra woollen blankets).
Cambria House is light, sunny and very comfortable. "Choose" a Nelson potter's cup and saucer and share a cup of tea or coffee with one of our home-made biscuits. Relax on the deck, in the garden or in the guest living room with its log fire, music if you desire, a glass of local wine and the latest glossy and business magazines.
The
Garden
The garden has always been a feature of Cambria House. Many
wonderful trees were planted early on and a number of these
still remain.

Out the front is a tall puriri with its bright red berries and a large camellia, which produces stunning pink and cerise coloured flowers.
From the living and dining rooms there are doors out to a large sunny deck which then leads into an enclosed garden with rambling old roses, wisteria, citrus trees and hydrangeas. The deck and garden are great places to read the morning paper, share a coffee or have a glass of wine or two before heading out to one of Nelson's many wonderful restaurants.
Breakfast
Breakfast at Cambria is a highlight. It can be served
around our large wooden dining room table, alfresco on the deck
or in the privacy of your room.
Every effort is made to use local
produce. Here in Nelson we are spoiled for choice when it comes
to locally grown and home-made goodies. Where possible we buy
fresh produce or use Nelson made products. Our breakfast menu
reflects the seasons and the produce available at that time.
In addition to cereals,
fresh and lightly stewed fruits, yoghurt and fresh juices
we offer cooked breakfasts. This might be free range eggs
(cooked how you like them) and served with bacon, mushrooms
and lightly grilled tomatoes. Or perhaps scrambled eggs with
locally smoked salmon. Or if you would prefer just freshly
ground coffee with toast and boysenberry jam or manuka honey.
